The four essays that got me into Berkeley, UCLA, and UCSB.
When I wrote my essays, I didn’t really know what the UC was looking for or how the prompts were meant to be read. These are the four I submitted.
- Required questionPlease describe how you have prepared for your intended major, including your readiness to succeed in your upper-division courses once you enroll at the university.
- PIQ 4Describe how you have taken advantage of a significant educational opportunity or worked to overcome an educational barrier you have faced.
- PIQ 5Describe the most significant challenge you have faced and the steps you have taken to overcome this challenge. How has this challenge affected your academic achievement?
- PIQ 6What have you done to make your school or your community a better place?
The four UC prompts I answered. My Personal Insight Questions: the short essays on the UC application. Transfer applicants answer one required question and three of their choice, 350 words each., broken down on the full session. Not posted anywhere.
The data is public. Reading it isn’t.
UC publishes admit rates and GPA ranges for every major at every campus. On the call, I show you what they mean for you.
